About the Alliance of Portage County Snowmobile Clubs
The Alliance of Portage County Snowmobile Clubs is an organization that promotes safety, education and safe snowmobiling. It unites clubs throughout Portage County and some of our adjoining counties. At our monthly meetings (Sept- May), club members from each of the ten localized county clubs share information on current local activities and events. A County Director and Representative are elected annually to be part of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC) Board of Directors. These directors make decisions involving AWSC business and legislative proposals. The Representative serves as acting Director if the Director is unable to attend any of the four yearly AWSC meetings.
The information from each state AWSC meeting is shared with the local clubs at the Alliance meetings. Through this sharing, many DNR snowmobile programs and proposals are relayed and discussed. Club members are asked to bring information from their clubs so that the Director and Representative can present their views and vote on their behalf at the state meetings.
The Alliance prints the county snowmobile trail map which gives an up to date trail system and sells advertising from businesses in the area to pay expenses of producing the maps and promote their businesses to the snowmobiling community.
